The Master of the Rolls has issued guidance as to the terminology that should be used to describe individuals who conduct legal proceedings on their own behalf.
The term “Litigant in Person” (LiP) should continue to be the sole term used. The guidance has been produced to remove any confusion caused by the term “self-represented litigants”.
