Coalition ‘turning back clock on women’s rights’ with plans to cut maternity pay

HALF of all working mothers could see their maternity pay cut under proposals from the Coalition, the TUC has warned.

Other changes to workplace laws could also allow employers to refuse “out of hand” requests for flexible hours, according to the TUC.

The proposals have led to accusations that the Tory-LibDem administration is trying to “turn back the clock” on women’s rights.

Campaigners have already warned the Coalition’s cuts programme has hit women harder than men.
