ENGLAND – Cafcass reports private law demand up 28% on a year ago

April 2013 saw the highest demand for a single month

In April 2013, Cafcass received a total of 4,400 new private law cases, a 28% increase on April 2012 levels. This is the highest ever recorded by Cafcass for the month of April and also the joint highest month (with October 2012) on record.

In the year to March 2013 Cafcass received a total of 45,800 new private law cases. This figure shows an increase of 10% from the 41,800 cases received in the previous financial year. In the year to March 2011 there were 43,600 new private law cases.
